The National Commission of Banks and Insurance (CNBS), with the support of UN Women and the Central American Technological University (UNITEC), held on Monday, November 24, 2025, the closing ceremony of the first Diploma in Financial Inclusion with a Gender Approach in Honduras, aimed at Supervised Institutions and the Fintech sector, with the goal of strengthening the capacities of financial ecosystem personnel and promoting greater financial inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For two months, 51 representatives from various institutions supervised by the CNBS and from the Fintech sector acquired knowledge about tools, data, and best practices aimed at designing inclusive financial solutions that meet real needs, evaluating their impact, and applying a gender perspective in decision-making. This training was carried out within the framework of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (ENIF) Honduras 2025-2030, as a guide to drive a deep and sustainable transformation of the national financial system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diploma program focused on promoting the creation of projects related to inclusive financial products and services, fostering interoperability and incorporating gender intelligence in the design of innovative solutions, with the aim of reducing gaps and transforming institutions. As part of the training process, the participants developed projects that reflected the knowledge they had acquired and offered real alternatives to improve financial inclusion for women in Honduras. These projects were evaluated by a specialized panel, considering criteria such as innovation, relevance, social impact, and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under this category, 3 out of 26 projects stood out for significantly reflecting financial inclusion and a gender focus: \u201cTengo Contigo\u201d by the company Tengo, \u201cMicrocredit for Women Entrepreneurs\u201d by Banco Ficensa and Seguros Crefisa, and \u201cMicro Insurance: Secure Woman\u201d by the Female Business Development Organization Financial (ODEF) and Seguros Equidad. All these initiatives, with an innovative approach and gender mainstreaming, aim to include women who have been historically excluded in the supervised sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the closing event was attended by the highest authorities of the organizing institutions: the Commissioner President of the CNBS, Eng. Marcio Sierra; the Representative of UN Women in Honduras, Master Mildred Garc\u00eda; and the Director of Continuing Education at UNITEC, Master Ana Vilma S\u00e1nchez, who reaffirmed through their speeches their commitment to financial inclusion and gender equality, and were in charge of presenting diplomas to the participants, recognizing the effort and dedication shown during the diploma program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This initiative reaffirms the commitment of the Government of the Republic, led by President Iris Xiomara Castro, through the CNBS, to continue promoting financial inclusion as a priority public policy and to strengthen a more equitable, innovative, sustainable financial system aimed at the development of all Hondurans.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
