The CNBS, UN Women, and UNITEC promote a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable financial ecosystem
16 de December de 2025
The National Commission of Banks and Insurance (CNBS, for its acronym in Spanish), within the framework of its commitment to promoting a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable financial system through the National Financial Inclusion Strategy (ENIF) Honduras 2025-2030, held a working session together with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women). The meeting, held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, aimed to share a methodology that contributes to the effective implementation of the strategy.
The session was facilitated by Cecilia Lazarte, Senior Regional Advisor on Financial Inclusion, and Amparo Canales, Senior Advisor on Financial Inclusion at UN Women. On behalf of the CNBS, members of the working groups of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) and staff from various departments of the CNBS involved in Financial Inclusion issues participated.
During the day, the participants learned about the methodology used in the EFI Collaboratories, spaces promoted by the Women’s Empowerment Ecosystem (EFI) Program of UN Women. These bring together institutions from various sectors in order to understand, highlight, and transform the dynamics of the financial ecosystem that generate exclusion, and to facilitate co-creation processes for more inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable solutions.
In addition, other topics were addressed from an ecosystem perspective, including the current challenges in expanding financial inclusion and the gaps arising from paradigms and beliefs, highlighting the importance of moving towards a people-centered financial ecosystem.
Through this learning platform, the CNBS strengthens the foundations for the efficient implementation of the ENIF and reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting financial inclusion for the well-being of the Honduran population.
