On September 18 and 19, 2025, the National Commission of Banks and Insurance (CNBS, for its acronym in Spanish) participated in the 44th Latin American Congress of Financial Law (COLADE 2025), held in the city of San Pedro Sula, Cortés, Honduras. This event was organized by the Honduran Association of Banking Institutions (AHIBA), together with the Latin American Federation of Banks (FELABAN).

The congress was established as a space for international dialogue, bringing together experts from the financial sector, regulators, academics, and leaders from more than 16 countries in the region, with the goal of fostering joint reflections on current challenges and emerging opportunities at the intersection of law, finance, and technology. Thanks to these efforts, Honduras, as the host country for this edition, is positioned as a regional reference in Latin American legal-financial thought.

The CNBS was represented by Licentiate Marcela Herrera, Manager of Education and Financial and Gender Inclusion, who presented a lecture titled ‘Financial Inclusion and Education: The Case of Honduran Regulation.’ In her presentation, she highlighted the regulatory advances that have strengthened the protection of financial users and the development of Supervised Institutions, as well as progress in financial education and inclusion, which have positioned Honduras as a regional reference. For their part, the participants in the Congress emphasized the usefulness of the information shared and the speaker’s extensive knowledge of the topic. Also attending the event were Engineer Bárbara Gonzáles, Manager of Financial User Protection; Lawyer Ana Aguilar, Legal Manager; Licentiate Brayan Perla, Public Service Specialist; and Lawyer Elba Mejía.
Through its participation in this type of forum, the CNBS reaffirms its institutional commitment to inclusion and financial education as key tools to drive the economic and social transformation of the Honduran financial ecosystem.
