28 de October de 2025
On Thursday, October 16, 2025, the National Commission of Banks and Insurance (CNBS, by its Spanish acronym) held the launch of the Gender Gap Report in the Honduran Financial System 2025. This seventh edition of the report reflects the sustained institutional commitment to incorporating a gender perspective in analysis and supervision processes, contributing to a more equitable and sustainable financial intermediation.

The activity took place over two days, bringing together representatives from supervised institutions, academia, national and international strategic partners, as well as personnel from the CNBS. During the event, the President Commissioner, Engineer Marcio Sierra Discua, highlighted the institutional effort to strengthen the generation and analysis of sex-disaggregated information, emphasizing that having data differentiated between women and men is essential for designing more effective public policies and promoting a financial system that meets the needs of the entire population, especially historically underserved sectors.

For his part, the presentation of the main findings of the report was led by Dr. Sebasti谩n Auguste, consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). During his presentation, he conducted a comparative analysis of Honduras’ situation in relation to other countries regarding gender gaps in various areas. He also shared relevant data on the existing challenges and the progress made in the financial system aimed at closing gender gaps in access to and use of financial products and services.

In fulfillment of its institutional mandate, the CNBS continues to promote actions that strengthen the transparency of information and the equitable participation of women and men in the national financial system. This initiative contributes to progress towards a country with more inclusive and sustainable economic development, which promotes the well-being of the Honduran population.
