Financial Inclusion Report 2026
31 de August de 2026
The National Commission of Banks and Insurance (CNBS) took part in the Global Policy Forum (GPF) 2026 of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), held from September 1 to 4, 2026, in the city of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Under the theme “Resilient Economies, Inclusive Future,” the forum brought together representatives from regulators and supervisors, financial institutions, and development entities from around the world to share experiences and promote policies that drive more sustainable, resilient, and innovative financial inclusion.
As part of this important international meeting, Commissioner President Nicolás J. García Pineda took on the Presidency of the Financial Inclusion Initiative for Latin America and the Caribbean (FILAC, by its English acronym). The presidency was handed over by El Salvador, while Paraguay assumed the co-presidency of this regional initiative from the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), aimed at promoting inclusive growth and poverty reduction through sustainable financial inclusion policies. FILAC is the first regional financial inclusion platform for Latin America and the Caribbean, leveraging the experience, knowledge, and cooperation among policymakers, regulatory bodies, and strategic partners in the region to strengthen economic development and financial inclusion for its populations.

This appointment represents an important recognition of the leadership Honduras has shown in promoting financial inclusion policies and strengthens the CNBS’s position within the dialogue and regional cooperation spaces driven by AFI. Likewise, it will help contribute to knowledge exchange, the identification of innovative solutions, and the promotion of joint actions that improve access to and use of financial services for the entire population of Latin America and the Caribbean.

What is FILAC?
The Financial Inclusion Initiative for Latin America and the Caribbean (FILAC) is the regional platform of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) responsible for promoting inclusive growth, financial education, and poverty reduction through the creation of sustainable policies and regulations in the region.
