The National Commission of Banks and Insurance (CNBS) was present at the Regional Collaboration of the Inclusive Financial Ecosystem Program (EFI) organized and promoted by the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), with the support of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, held on May 13 of this year in Guatemala City. Guatemala.
The representation was led by Marcela Herrera, Manager of Financial Education and Inclusion and Gender, who, together with representatives of financial institutions, regulatory entities, social and women’s organizations from Guatemala and El Salvador, participated in the Working Group “Generation and Use of Data”.

During the dialogue, the need to have financial products with a gender focus and intelligence, adapted to the realities of women, was highlighted, recognizing that financial inclusion is also linked to economic autonomy, trust, and support and care networks. Likewise, experiences of institutions that have developed inclusive financial services and methodologies aimed at serving women entrepreneurs were shared.

The EFI Regional Collaboratory in Guatemala demonstrated that the financial inclusion of women is a key element for the sustainable development of the Northern Triangle (Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador), showing that the results obtained during its implementation constitute a legacy that strengthens the coordination among the actors of the financial ecosystem of the three countries.
